From RTi - MTSS
Several years ago, Fraser made the conscious decision to shift our thinking to align with the MTSS process.
Response to intervention
(RTI) is a framework that many schools use to help students who are struggling with academics.
Multi Tiered System of Support
A multi-tier system of supports (MTSS) is comprehensive, and includes the adults at school, too (like professional development for teachers). MTSS also focuses on creating ways for adults to team up to help struggling kids.
MTSS goes beyond just academics. It also covers the whole child, and social and emotional supports. In 2013, we added a social-emotional screener at the elementary level, and scaled up to include 7-9 in 2018. Beginning in the 2020-21 school year, we screen all students for social-emotional and behavioral needs.
